Hey,
Can you add Riverdale Park East to your list of field locations.
I go by it everyday after work and there are 3 fields that are always empty. I was thinking of maybe trying to start a game there on a Monday or Tuesday.
It is right beside the Don Jail at Gerrard and Broadview.
Cheers

Here is some map/satellite linkages:

What's the field surface like Alan? Flat or bumpy? Tons of room? Looks like it from the satellite photo... Looks like you could just get off of the Broadview subway station and walk south a few blocks. Very accessible.

Hell yeah, if we continue to have problems with accessibility at the Elginton fields, I'd say let's move the entire game down to this place - if it's as unused as you say. I'd happily jump on the Subway to go there.

I haven't actually gone down to check the surface out but next week I will get off and take a walk around. It looks nice and green anyway.
I've never seen any organized sport there, only the odd amateur baseball game but they do have goalposts up so I guess there must be some use for it. I'll keep my eye on it when I am going home this week and see what usage it gets.
It is maybe a 5 minute walk South of Broadview Station and has a lovely panoramic view of downtown.
Monday's seem to be getting really hard up at Yonge and Eglington. Least week there was only 5 of us but we couldn't get any space at either the park or the school.
Anyway this is one option, if anybody else has any ideas post em' up.
Cheers

Alan,
I have created a new forum for Riverdale Park and copied the posts above in it. It's pretty close to Yonge & Eglinton and since as you're saying it's empty on Mondays or Tuesdays, it might be worth a try...

yeah i wouldnt mind getting out today, ill try up this park, its pretty close,

lemme know if this is the consensus for tonight, as both fields are pretty blocked up @ yonge/eg

If we "switch" fields, someone is going to have to hang out and the Y&E field until 6:30 to gather the stragglers, and we won't arrive at the Riverdale field until 7pm, and that's *if* we convince people to follow us. Besides, the fields here at Y&E were strangely available this past Thursday...

If you can make it to Y&E I'd recommend still doing that... if the fields are full you never know if some of the people are going to decide to try nearby places instead of getting on the subway. We should announce the switch *at* a Monday game and/or lead people over at least once.

I should make a poster and bring some tape to post at the Y&E field... Something that each day I can tape over indicating where we're headed or something... Heh heh - we need a "Soccer Toronto Phone Hotline" - maybe I should offer up my home phone and record messages there saying "today we're playing at ...". (cool idea, but no way...)

JEFF - whatever happened to forwarding the Roehampton school forms to Svato and I? (Meh - I should have dropped by the schools and gotten the forms myself by now... Razz )

Alan, sorry, we didn't head down to the Riverdale park - by the time we had 4 people at Roehampton (6:30pm) and waited to confirm no-one else was going to show up (6:45pm), it was kinda late and it'd be too late by the time we got down to Riverdale (7:15/7:30), so we didn't come down.

What did you find out in your trip to the Riverdale park?

I was tempted to come down just to see if you were hanging out there in case you'd go for a pint - but seeing as I don't have a cellphone and/or you don't/I don't have a number for you... and you probably didn't wait for 1.5 hours there if a game didn't develop...
