The Power Plant, the Images Festival and DHC/ART are presenting the film "Zidane: a 21st Century Portrait" at The Bloor Cinema on July 10, at 7 PM and 9 PM. The film, about soccer superstar Zinedine Zidane has been called "the greatest film about football ever made."

We're looking for ways to publicize the film to soccer fans and players in Toronto and help sell tickets. I'll chime in here considering I'm the proud owner of a copy of the documentary.

The documentary, actually titled en Francais as Zidane, Un Portrait du 21e Siècle, majestically captures perhaps the best player to come out of Europe in 50 years.

What this doc did for me was to illuminate the difference between the player we saw through a fixed screen of impersonality and the intimate portrayal of a living legend. Frankly, your witnessing the man at his craft from the most personalized of perspectives.

If that doesn't sell it for you, consider that The Observer called it 'The finest film at Cannes' last year.
