Post Post subject: Looking to start back at the beautiful game
Hi All,

After almost 2 years off of playing due to work and other commitments (aka excuses), I have a strong desire to get back to playing soccer at a very competitive level.

Since it has been such a long time since I've played competitive soccer, I'm looking to gently reintroduce my body back to the rigors of the game.

I do work out regularly and am physically fit, but not in game shape (most notably deficient in my aerobic/anaerobic capacity in the context of running, sprinting or sport specific activity).

As well, my on the ball skills are more than likely very rusty, but I have no doubt they will come back quickly.

That being said, I am very confident that I can improve these areas of my fitness and skill capacity in a short time with the proper enticement (playing soccer!) in the presence of the right people (easy going, fun, friendly, laid back).

A little background: I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old (currently 30). Played at a competitive level in Calgary (Division 1 & 2), Edmonton (Division 1) and Victoria (Division 2).

Position: I have played primarily high striker (I enjoy scoring goals!) with some stints as midfield. Based on my current fitness, I would probably do best at high striker (I can sprint quickly for short periods of time, but my speed endurance is lacking).

What I'm looking for: I am open to any form of playing at this time, including pick up, co-ed, rec or semi-competitive. My work schedule will only allow me to commit to later on weekdays from Monday to Thursday or earlier on Fridays (unfortunately, those 10-11 pm starts are too late as I work Saturday mornings) or Sundays pretty much anytime.

With the above, I'm looking at getting back into high level competitive game fitness but I know I have to put the effort in.

Ideally, I'm looking at just getting together with a bunch of people who love the game, have fun and want to improve their skills to start off.

Hopefully this post wasn't too long, but I wanted to try to start conversations with the right people and I figure giving the right information was the best way to start.

If you have a team or a league that is looking for skilled but somewhat game-unfit players, drop me a line at dev (at) devchengkalath.com and I will try to figure out if this is a good match.

All the best.

Regards,
Dev Chengkalath

Hi Dev,

I have a competitive and fun team that I think is suited to your style of play and character. And we are in need of a striker who enjoys puttin' the ball in the back of the net.

Please drop me a line at jvecox@hotmail.com so I can tell you more as I am not sure how to get hold of you.

Cheers,
James
